Die Stadt ist das historische, kulturelle und akademische Zentrum im Nordosten Rum\u00e4niens. Als ehemalige Hauptstadt Moldawiens (1564\u20131859) bietet Iasi eine reiche Geschichte, beeindruckende Kirchen, die erste Universit\u00e4t des Landes und eine lebendige, junge Atmosph\u00e4re als bedeutender Universit\u00e4tsstandort. Die Stadt weist einige eindr\u00fcckliche Geb\u00e4ude auf, die man so im Balkan sonst nicht zu sehen bekommt. Wahrzeichen der Stadt ist der gut einhundert Jahre alte Kulturpalast, der 298 Zimmer aufweist und damit zu den gr\u00f6ssten Geb\u00e4uden Rum\u00e4niens z\u00e4hlt.
