F\u00e4hrt man vom Festland auf die Halbinsel, wird man als Erstes von den Ruinen einer antike Festungsanlage begr\u00fcsst. Die Verteidigungsanlage stammt \u00fcberwiegend aus der fr\u00fchbyzantinischen Zeit. Die Mauern umschlossen damals die ganze Halbinsel, um die strategisch wichtige Hafenstadt zu sch\u00fctzen.
